Brokers and feeling like a criminal

exitrealtygoldI sent an email off to the broker at Exit Realty Gold late last week to try and re-establish communication with them and to setup another meeting to talk about hanging my brand new license.  I was a little worried I wouldn’t hear back from him because back in august I sent an email just to keep in touch and heard nothing.  Well, apparently I had nothing to worry about as an email arrived on Saturday from the broker saying…

Congratulations! That’s great. It would be my pleasure to sit down with you again. Do you have time this coming week? I would reccomend scheduling and getting fingerprinted as soon as you can, as sometimes appointments are booked for a week or so

He was correct about the finger printing!  After downloading the appropriate forms and making my way through the state website, the earliest I could get an appointment was October 21st.  Seriously!, how can getting finger printed be so backed up?  Oh not to mention it costs $70.25 to have it done, talk about junk fees.

I’m trying to setup a meeting with Exit either Wednesday or Thursday and I’ll report back on how that goes.

Speaking of brokers, I also have an option to hang my license with my friend’s mother who just runs a one person shop for her appraisal/Real Estate business.  I’m sure the fees would be lower for me and I’d probably get a better commission percentage, but I have my reservations about working with friends.
Moving Forward!

What are your intentions with being an agent? To work with other investors or just to facilitate your own investing?

I think if it is just for your own investing, hang it where it is the best deal. If you want a network of agents and existing success to work the business go with Exit or another franchise.

My intentions are to both work with other investors and to facilitate my own investing. That’s why I’m leaning towards Exit. Thanks for chiming in Steve, I appreciate it.
