30DC – Day 17 – Google Analytics and Pretty Links

September 16, 2009 by Scott Costello 1 Comment

30DC17The first day of the second half, Day 17, had us analyzing our stats using Google Analytics.  The reason is to determine if the website is attracting enough visitors in order to move on.  The minimum number of visitors that they suggest you have before moving forward is 100 (umm how about 5?).

100 visitors is needed to really be able to analyze the statistics in a reliable way.  If there are too few visitors then the stats can really get skewed easily by your visits to the website.   The suggested plan of action if your visitor count isn’t high is to go back and create more backlinks and some more articles.

My Stuff

At this point I’m seriously short on visitors.  I would have liked to have been at 50 by now (Not the 100 like 30DC suggested as I’m going after a smaller market).   I’ve got a total of 5 visits from search engines, so I’ve got some work to do.

My plan of action is going to be to create 5 more articles and publish 3 to my blog, 1 to ezinearticles.com and create another squidoo lens with the other.  We will see if that helps my rankings and conversely my visitors.

I will also keep moving forward on the 30 day challenge to pick up more techniques for getting visitors.
